Whispering Space
Whispering Space is an immersive installation blending art, technology, and human expression to explore misophonia and hearing impairment. Designed as a rectangular space, it examines the tension between anxiety and connection in communication.
The experience begins with an opening-day dance performance, where movement and sound intertwine. In the following days, visitors interact with the space, using hand gestures to manipulate the soundscape. A motion-detecting camera captures movements, triggering real-time sound changes.
The installation features four core elements:
- Projected Visuals & Spatial Design: Reactive water waves, created in Touch Designer, are projected onto four voile walls, symbolizing an emotional prison shaped by external voices.
- Soundscape: Built in Max/MSP, the evolving soundscape responds dynamically to movement.
- Audience Interaction: Visitors follow a pathway into the installation, surrounded by aggressive sounds that evoke anxiety and helplessness.
- Dancers (optional): Their exaggerated movements influence sound and visuals, bridging physical, auditory, and visual dimensions.
